Overview & Highlights
Arusha National Park is a jewel of diverse ecosystems nestled at the foothills of Mount Meru. Despite its modest size, it boasts remarkable scenery ranging from the lush montane forest of Mount Meru slope, the spectacular Ngurdoto Crater ('Little Ngorongoro'), to the tranquil alkaline Momella Lakes tinted pink with thousands of flamingos. It is the premier destination in Tanzania for walking safaris, canoeing, and spotting the rare black-and-white colobus monkey.

Safety, Malaria & Guidelines
Operational Advisory
Always obey local safety parameters, environmental codes of conduct, and instructions from park rangers or guides.
Arusha National Park is exceptionally safe. Because it is close to Arusha town (less than 45 minutes drive), it is perfect for day trips. Walking safaris are strictly accompanied by an armed TANAPA park ranger.
🦟 Malaria & Health Advisory
Malaria is present in most wildlife reserves in Tanzania. It is strongly recommended to consult a travel clinic for antimalarial prescription. Use mosquito repellent containing DEET and wear light-colored, long-sleeved clothes in the evening.
